Burglar caught in high speed police chase

A Burglar involved in a high speed police chase has been jailed for 27 months and banned from driving for 4 years.

The man was returning to Nottingham with two other men after stealing computer equipment from Stamford College when he was caught in a police spot-check on the A52.

After the chase, in which he collided with the police car three times and only stopped after a police helicopter became involved, the police found a large number of computers and other IT equipment in the vehicle. On inspection of the goods, the police were easily able to identify who they belonged to, as they had been permanently marked with the College name and postcode using the Selectamark property marking system.

All the equipment was returned to the college as a result of them being permanently and visibly marked.
