Don't let them get away with it. Boatmark your boat
In no time at all, a thief can slip aboard your boat and lift its valuable equipment and accessories. Or slip the mooring, and simply steal quietly away. Now, there's Boatmark, the British Marine Federation's official national identification scheme specifically designed to counter rising marine crime. With a new easy-to-use marking and tagging kit, you can give your boat a unique number, securely marked, with some markings clearly visible to act as a deterrent, at least one is carefully concealed. The kit also contains an RFID tag programmed with the boat's HIN number. Details of the boat, equipment serial numbers and their keeper are then held on a central, secure database, linked 24 hours a day to the Police National Computer. The visible marking, tagging and membership of Boatmark will deter any thief, but should your boat or equipment get stolen, Boatmark makes it far more likely you'll get it back - and quickly too. Apart from the initial cost, there are no further annual charges or recurring costs.
Makes legitimate Sales easier, and cuts down fraud
Once your boat (and equipment) has been Boatmarked, you'll be issued with a certificate giving a description of the craft and keeper details. Should you come to sell the boat, prospective buyers will see Boatmark as a valuable reassuring factor, making the transaction much easier to complete. It's also a protection against fraud. Buyers can check that a vendor is a recorded keeper, and that the boat is not being used as security for outstanding finance and that the VAT has been paid. The certificate will provide peace of mind to the buyer, making a sale that much easier.
