Bicycle marked with Selectamark returned to owner

A bicycle marked and tagged on Selectamark's bikeregister.com website was found by Police and returned to its rightful owner last week.

bikeregister.com is the on-line registration initiative aiming to reduce bike theft and assist in owner recoverybikeregister.com offers a Police preferred product for marking your bike. The owners, Selectamark Security Systems plc, have a Secured By Design licence.

The scheme is operated in conjunction with major bicycle retailers and manufacturers to effectively assist with the return of stolen bikes to their rightful owners through state-of-the-art bike ID and an on-line recovery register.

131,000 bikes were reported stolen in the UK last year and, according to Home Office figures, less than 8% were returned to their rightful owners.
